Its consistent quality and distinct profile ensure its place as a cornerstone in any serious whisky collection.
Springbank
Campbeltown, Scotland
Springbank is Campbeltown's defining distillery, family-owned by J & A Mitchell since 1828 and one of very few to floor-malt, distil and bottle entirely on site. That self-sufficiency and a refusal to chase volume have made its releases — Local Barley, Countdown and the older Mitchell bottlings among them — some of the most pursued in Scotch, with allocations selling out instantly and sealed bottles climbing well past retail.
More from Springbank →Nose
A complex and inviting nose with notes of maritime air, gentle peat smoke, rich dried fruits like raisins and dates, intertwined with hints of toffee, vanilla, and a touch of brine. Underlying cereal notes and a subtle oak spice provide depth.
Palate
Medium to full-bodied and oily, the palate opens with more dried fruits, dark chocolate, and a delicate wisp of Campbeltown peat smoke. A pleasant saltiness, a developing nutty character, and well-integrated oak contribute to its layered complexity.
Finish
The finish is long and warming, gracefully fading with lingering sweet fruit, earthy peat, and a final, satisfying maritime salinity.
